Ideal for today's contemporary kitchen, the
Quooker is the must-have appliance that gets
used much more than any other big-ticket
purchase.
Dispensing 100°C instant
filtered boiling hot water for beverages and a
host of other tasks, the Quooker is actually
used on a day to day basis even more than an
oven. No wonder it’s fast becoming an essential
addition to any showhouse in need of that extra
special something!
Its popularity
with homeowners is easy to explain. With a trend
towards cleaner designs for kitchens, the
installation of a Quooker means that the
counter-top can be elegantly clutter-free and
the need for a kettle is completely eradicated.
This tidier-looking kitchen isn’t just appealing
to
gadget-loving professionals – and they are
big fans – but also to young families.
Featuring a childproof tap, the Quooker is far
safer than a kettle when you’ve got toddlers
about since it’s fixed to the counter and can’t
be pulled off. For busy parents, the tap also
saves on precious time and can be used for many
of the tasks that they find most useful;
sterilising baby bottles, boiling eggs and
rinsing blenders and liquidisers. Those with
newly installed Quookers often remark that they
don’t know how they ever did without it.
But besides being convenient, its biggest
selling point is its eco-credentials. From the
instant a Quooker is installed, a homeowner
immediately starts saving money, energy and
water. The energy-greedy kettle has becomes a
thing of the past and instead of boiling up too
much water for a fresh cuppa exactly the
required amount of 100°C water is dispensed – no
more, no less! A kettle, after all, can cost £80
to £150 per year, whereas the running cost of a
Quooker is just 3p a day.
There are
more savings to be had, too, as the Quooker
replaces many of the functions of other
appliances; no more slowly heating up pans of
water on a hob as it’s possible to fill up and
be ready to cook at once. Use it for blanching
vegetables, making pasta and reconstituting
instant foods. It is invaluable, too, for
cleaning; dislodging sticky food from frying
pans, stains from chopping boards and wax from
candlesticks so effortlessly.
The
science behind it is very simple. Sitting in the
undersink cupboard is a compact three-litre
vacuum-tank that is surprisingly easy to fit and
maintain, requiring a change of filter only
every 3 years. This well-insulated VAQ ‘thermos
flask’ water tank keeps fresh water at a
constant 110°C under mains pressure and the unit
is cool to the touch.
The HiTAC
filter purifies the water and collects limescale
as the water passes from tank to tap. When the
tap is opened, water mixes with oxygen and boils
at 100°C – coming out of the tap in a fine spray
rather than a hard jet. In fact, the whooshing
noise it makes is much more appealing than the
boiling of a kettle.
Taste isn’t
compromised at all; tea made with the Quooker
tastes significantly better. As the water
emerges from the tap at 100°C, naturally
occurring calcium in the water changes from
soluble to insoluble. This prevents it reacting
with the tannins and leaving ‘scummy’ deposits
on cups and teapots, thus creating the perfect
cup of tea.
Available in four chic designs (Basic, Classic,
Design and Modern), the Quooker has a design of
tap for every type of kitchen even a period one.
It is available in six finishes (chrome, brushed
chrome, satin chrome, stainless steel effect,
gold-plated brass and bronze) so it also offers
flexibility of choice for every decorative
scheme.
With so many benefits, the
Quooker appeals on many levels and any developer
installing one will definitely win points with
all its potential customers.
